My idea for Capstone is to brand my music by creating a professional
online presence. I will do so by designing and developing MadalynsMusic.com
To brand my music I plan on partnering with the women’s shelter in
Martinsburg and giving a percent of all music sales to the shelter. This will
express to my target audience my beliefs. I believe that we need to work
together as women to build each other up. It is too common that women break
each other down especially in the music industry. I want my music to encourage unity. I need to do research on how I can deliver this statement to
my audience.
I also want to make my music as professional as possible besides my online appearance. During capstone; I will copyright all material through the U.S.
copyright office, create an LLC, and register as a songwriter and publisher
through BMI. These three steps will help to protected myself as an individual and
my music before distribution via iTunes, Spotify, etc.
For my website I will be using links to my social media sites to keep
the site active and relevant. I’ll create an online EPK (Electronic Press
Kit) for my music to share with businesses I work with. Most likely I will not include this on my website but it will be an essential part of professionalism in the industry. What I would like to include are pictures, videos,
music and merchandise.
I will be doing promotion for my website and through my website. Outside
of social media platforms I will promote through local radio, television and newspapers.
I am not entirely sure that my music will interest them but I will research to
find the best way to present my material. I want to get other businesses and
local organizations involved in my music to excel promotion.
Another way I plan on getting local business involved is through sponsorship. I have looked in to other various companies that
sponsor musicians. Most are product sponsors. These sponsored
are based on the use and promotion of their products which limits me to sound
equipment and string instruments.
The company that I meet with is a beer
distribution company in Martinsburg. So far we have discussed that they would make banners
and advertisements for my music at local bars and give merchandise away during shows. This would help a lot with promotion but I need to do research
on what else a sponsorship may include.
I have a lot of ideas in many different aspects of my music. I will over
the course of this semester complete everything I have just explained. However,
my main objective is to create a brand and display/maintain my brand through
MadalynsMusic.com
